Nerf This!: Interviewing Hyo-bin “Choihyobin” Choi of the San Francisco Shock

There was a time, long ago, when D.Va was unstoppable. She was overpowered, nigh unkillable, and was the favorite go-to flex tank for tank mains like myself. She was an almost universal pick in both quick play and competitive matches. As they say though, all good things come to an end, as she was nerfed a bit over the next couple of patches.

Hammer Down: An Interview with Matthew “super” DeLisi

It seems that people forget that there are three California-based teams in Overwatch League.

I get it, the Valiant and the Gladiators are pretty fly, but there is a team that has been climbing the ranks, doing Northern California proud–the San Francisco Shock. It certainly helps that the team has great chemistry, great leadership, and solid tank play, especially from main tank player Matthew “super” DeLisi. Read more …

OWL Stage One Playoffs: Vancouver Titans Take the Win

Vancouver Titans 4-3 San Francisco Shock

This weekend saw the culmination of the first stage of Overwatch League’s second season. Eight teams entered after finishing atop the standings during Stage One, but only one could be crowned winner and walk away with the lion’s share of the $500,000 on the line ($200,000 for 1st place). Every analyst saw this coming down to an inevitable Titans v Excelsior finish…they got that half right, as the Titans were there, but joined by the San Francisco Shock. Read more …

Minority Report: The True California Cup Champions

In this week’s Minority Report, Briggsy recaps her experiences at both California Cup showmatches between the Los Angeles Valiant and the San Francisco Shock. The true champions, we find out, aren’t necessarily the players – especially when things get rough.

College is about making mistakes. My mistake was going to college.

I grew up watching movies and nonfiction testimonials about college sororities providing lifelong bonds, fun parties that would become stories to tell my grandkids, and classes that were engaging and interactive to prepare me for a lifetime of success. I was excited to start this new chapter in my life after enduring a rather miserable high school experience. Turns out not much changes after high school. In college, I didn’t fit in, the material didn’t interest me, and most of my time was spent dealing with lecherous instructors and abusive relationships. I left unceremoniously after I simply stopped going to classes.

Watch Out (S3W2): LA Valiant on the Rise as Boston Picks Up the Pieces

Well, it’s been a busy week for the Overwatch League. Last week’s games surprised just about everybody- that Valiant 4-0 against the Dynasty? Or Boston’s, against the apparently-struggling Outlaws? Seoul Dynasty Players

Overwatch League – Seoul Dynasty vs San Francisco Shock

The Seoul Dynasty enter the match, after being steamrolled in their Stage 3 opener by the Los Angeles Valiant, looking for not just the victory but for vindication that they are still a force to be reckoned with. The San Francisco Shock come into the arena with all their players of age and into the Stage that on paper should be theirs. They opened with a win over the Los Angeles Gladiators and are looking to extend that and lay claim by declawing the tiger.
