Overwatch World Cup 2018: Early Roster Breakdown

The Overwatch World Cup approaches. For Americans, this means that the whole missing out on the FIFA World Cup thing isn’t really a big deal. (No, it doesn’t! We should still be sad.)

Anyways, there have been plenty of rumors and lots of news about who will represent Team USA, and we’re here to try and put what we know into one location.

The Seoul Dynasty are in for a Hell of a Week as Houston’s Hot Streak is Put to the Test: Watch Out! (S4W2)

What a stage it’s been so far, huh? I kinda (and by kinda I mean definitely) regret missing Watch Out last week, but final exams wait for no man, even if there were amazing Overwatch games to cover. With those finals now totally (hopefully) passed, it’s time to take a look at this week’s matches!

Overwatch League – Houston Outlaws vs. Seoul Dynasty – S3W5

With a lot to prove and a lot to lose, the Houston Outlaws came into their last match of stage three with an axe to grind. Their last meeting with the Seoul Dynasty in S2W5 was an impressive showing. A 3-1 victory over the Korean juggernaut showed the first signs of a slipping Seoul, and a shining opportunity for the Outlaws to push forward into stage three on a high note. Six weeks and a so-so stage later, the Outlaws were the guinea pigs for the Dynasty’s newest, and oddly most efficient, roster experiment. Read more …

Overwatch League- Houston Outlaws vs. San Francisco Shock- S3W5

With both teams’ playoff hopes (and the hopes of a few other teams besides) on the line, the Houston Outlaws and San Francisco Shock simply could not afford to give their enemy an inch. The resulting match was an intense, if not flawed, affair. Read on and find out what made the game so crazy!

Watch Out (S3W5): The Houston Outlaws are Pushing for a Playoff Spot, but so is Everyone Else!

Are we at the end of another stage again? Already? This is ridiculous!

I know the progression of time is linear and all that, but it certainly doesn’t feel like it these days, especially in the Overwatch League. Week after week, these games seem to fly by- but I suppose that’s why I’m here, right? To slow things down a bit, and show you all the best bits to keep an eye on as we hurtle through time and space. Well don’t worry! I’ve gone and done exactly that. Read on.  Read more …

Watch Out (S3W4): The Boston Uprising Seek Perfection as the Fusion Fight for Fourth

With the end of the stage approaching once again, teams are in a mad dash to secure their spot in the newly expanded 4-team playoff bracket. The Boston Uprising, NYXL and LA Valiant all seem like shoe-ins, but there’s still one more spot to consider.

Fourth place is now the most hotly contested spot in the Overwatch League, and the middle of the pack will need to step up in a big way to secure their place before playoffs come. San Francisco, Seoul, Philly, Houston, London, and the Gladiators are all within a couple maps of each other, so anyone could steal the last spot away by the time the week is through. That’s assuming we don’t see any upsets this week, either… I don’t know if I’d bet on that. Especially once you read this.  Read more …

Watch Out (S3W3): The Dallas Fuel could Oust the Outlaws as the LA Valiant fight for the Homeland

We knew there were big changes coming for the Overwatch League last week. I don’t think anyone was ready for this, though. Boston’s upset over New York on Thursday was electric, and it only got crazier from there. Saturday was one of the most impressive showings of the season, with all three games that day going to a tiebreaker. What a week!

This week could be even better. I’m faced with a bit of a dilemma, honestly. There are just too many good matches. I guess I’ll just have to tell you about all of them? Yeah, sorry, I know. How dreadful. Don’t worry, we’ll get through this together.
