The penultimate week of Contenders Australia season 3 was about as one-sided as it can get. Group A saw overwhelming victories to the strongest teams – 4-0’s to Sydney, Athletico and Blank all took their wins with decisive force. Heist, Melbourne, and Order all took similarly strong wins, leaving the lower tier teams in quite the predicament. At this point in the season, we’re seeing teams confirm their positions for playoffs. The top four from each group will qualify for quarterfinals, while the remaining two teams from each group will be forced to return to Trials and qualify for next season all over again.
The second week of Australian Contenders was a lot of ups and downs. Floats, a modified GOATS comp with Winston and D.va for main tanks, was the flavour of the week. Two veterans of Aussie esports squared up while a set of new teams saw some fun and tense matches.
Season 3 of Contenders Australia is right around the corner! The new season kicks off Monday, November 19th and the off-season has been chaotic to say the least. Rebrands, collapses, sneaky roster moves and the sad demise of the Bin Chickens. Rookies fresh off the ladder will be squaring up with old school veterans, and we’ll no doubt see some intense matchups this season.
