In a shock move announced on Twitter today, LA Gladiators main tank Chan-Hyung “Fissure” Baek has been released from his team and signed with the Seoul Dynasty. The most handsome and best tank in the Overwatch League will now play on an all Korean team, something Fissure has reportedly wanted since before the season playoffs.
🛡️ THANK YOU, @FISSURE 🛡️
Farewell to our glorious, most handsome main tank.
You have left your mark as a Gladiator in our legacy.
We wish you the best of luck with the @SeoulDynasty.

The exact amount that Fissure was traded for is unclear, but considering he was the Gladiator’s star tank player it must have been a major deal. No players from Seoul were traded in exchange. Fissure had previously left the all Korean London Spitfire to join the Gladiators in Stage 2 of the League’s first season.
Fissure was benched during playoffs and replaced with Luis “iRemiix” Galarza Figueroa, reportedly due to a combination of meta changes and communication issues with the team. This was despite an amazing performance earlier in the season that turned the Gladiator’s season around and got them to playoffs. Rumours said that Fissure was looking to rejoin a fully Korean roster to solve the communication issues.
His signing with Seoul might represent a new era for the struggling Dynasty. Seoul finished 8th overall in OWL’s first season and failed to make playoffs. Whether or not Fissure – a meta dependant tank who was benched once the meta changed in playoffs – will really turn Seoul around is yet to be seen.
