OWL’s First Official Cosplayer Ups the Ante For Season 2
It may be Halloween, but for the Houston Outlaws’ official cosplayer Jordyn McCoy, cosplaying is more than just dress up. It’s about rallying the community and supporting the Outlaws no matter where they are. It may seem like a dream come true to represent the Outlaws all around the nation – and it is, says McCoy – but it all started in Texas with a lot of hard work and dedication. McCoy is the first ever official contracted cosplayer in esports, a position the Outlaws created entirely for her when they saw her impact in the esports community back in Austin.

Overwatch League Schedule Changes: What’s New, What’s Not
Last week, the Overwatch League announced major changes to the league’s schedule for the 2019 season. With the introduction of eight new teams next year, adjustments to the schedule were inevitable. 40 games per team would have given us a staggering 400 OWL matches in the regular season alone. This may sound like a fantastic plan to viewers, especially during the offseason when many of us are starving for more high-level matches to watch, but it’s realistically untenable at best.
Thankfully, almost every one of the announced changes has the end result of ‘more Overwatch’. Taken together, they’re producing both more games and more opportunities for teams to excel in the postseason. Perhaps more importantly, they’re reducing the intense schedule that led to stress and illness for players in the 2018 season. Here’s a more detailed breakdown of the changes, and just how different next season will (or won’t) be. Read more …

Believe The Hype: South Korea, Return of The Kings
In some esports, there is a mindset that South Korean players are the best in the world. They are the most mechanically gifted, they are the smartest, and they come from the birthplace of esports as we know it today. The best of the best usually hail from South Korea, and Overwatch has not been an exception to the rule. With the South Korean talent that we have in Overwatch, they have built themselves quite the reputation since the birth of Overwatch as an esport.

A Step Forward and Giving Back: An Interview with Philadelphia Fusion’s Elk
When the Philadelphia Fusion announced that Elijah Hudson “Elk” Gallagher would be promoted to the team’s roster going into Season 2, the former Fusion University player was so excited he forgot to send out a tweet. And when he did, he couldn’t even find the words to express his excitement:
Super excited to be joining @Fusion for OWL S2, so excited its hard to even coherently make words about it but its amazing and woooOOOO!
— Elk (@elk) September 25, 2018
“Elk has been an outstanding player for us both in game and out,” said Philadelphia Fusion president Tucker Roberts. “That’s why we promoted him to captain Season 2. It’s easy to forget how young he is given his maturity and professionalism. He plays a cerebral style and studies the game constantly. We’re all very excited to have him join Fusion for the 2019 season.”
Speaking with Elk last night, it was easy to see the maturity that Roberts and other Fusion veterans commonly bring up when it comes to his promotion. Elk spoke of his growth as a player with not only the guidance he received as part of Fusion’s academy team, but from professional Overwatch players who took the time to give him advice when he reached out to them. The support main is hoping to use his new platform to not only improve his role in-game, but give support back to the Overwatch community in hopes of helping other passionate players reach their dreams.

Overwatch World Cup France Stage: Preview, Predictions, Matches You Can’t Miss!
The final stage of the 2018 Overwatch World Cup Qualifiers takes place this weekend in Paris, France and it looks to be a full-on battleground for EU teams. September 20-22, six European teams will fight to see who joins South Korea, Finland, USA, Canada, China, and Australia at Blizzcon in November. To get there, however, any team will have to work their way through the onslaught of EU’s brightest.
